Daniel Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas Lose the round 4 at Roland Garros

 

Daniel Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas were unexpectedly eliminated in the 4th round of the men's draw at the French Open.


World No. 2 Medvedev was beaten 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 by Croatian Marin Cilic in a one-sided match.


Tsitsipas who is ranked 4 has lost the match in four-set as youngster Holger Rune reached his first Grand Slam quarterfinal.


The 19-year-old Dane punished the 2021 French Open runner-up's lackluster performance with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.


Rune will play with Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals after the Norwegian won in four sets and defeated Poland's Hubert Hurkatz.


Cilic, 33, next faces 7th ranked Andrei Rublev, who advanced to the quarter after Jannik Sinner retired 1-6 6-4 2-0.
